WhatsApp Introduces AI Writing Assistant to Rephrase Messages in Multiple Styles and Tones

On Wednesday, WhatsApp revealed a new feature that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to rewrite messages for improved clarity and tone. Users can compose a simple sentence and the AI-powered writing assistance will offer suggestions for enhancement, such as alternative tones and styles, according to the Meta-owned instant messaging app. According to WhatsApp, its new Writing Help is based on Private Processing technology, meaning that only the user would be able to view the chats or responses.
The New AI-Powered Writing Assistance Feature on WhatsApp
In a blog post, WhatsApp provided information on the new feature. Based on the original material, this AI-powered writing helper offers personalized writing recommendations. The function can enhance text in a variety of ways, such as humorous, professional, or encouraging. Depending on the user’s inclination, it can also be utilized to make the message more sympathetic or to inject a little humor.
In addition, the tool helps you get rid of spelling and grammar errors by acting as a spell-checker. It is comparable to the Writing Tools on the iPhone and other Apple devices that are powered by Apple Intelligence.
According to WhatsApp, users can look over the recommendations and decide whether to send the revised text or retain the original message. Writing Help functions in both private and public chats.
A new pencil icon will show when you draft a message in the text box to utilize the capability. When you tap on it, WhatsApp will launch a new Meta AI box with text suggestions to enhance the original message’s grammar, tone, or clarity.
Writing Help is based on the Private Processing processing infrastructure, according to the instant messaging platform. Thus, Meta AI is able to produce answers without requiring the chatbot or WhatsApp to ever see the initial messages or the enhanced text. More information regarding WhatsApp’s Private Processing can be found here.
Notably, Writing Help was initially discovered in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.23.7 earlier this month, when it was first believed to be under development. The announcement has now been made formally.
WhatsApp’s Writing Help feature is now available in English to users in the US and a few other countries. Later this year, the company plans to expand it to cover additional languages and areas.
