Telegram: New Users Can now Sign up Without Phone Number
A new update to the well-known messaging application Telegram has been released, bringing with it a number of new features and enhancements.
The new sign-up method, which does not require a phone number, is one of the significant improvements that are being implemented. Up until now, users had to provide their mobile number in order to register with Telegram. The software has also added robust anti-spam, an improved Topics 2.0 function for groups, automatic message deletion for new chats, and more.
New users can now register for a Telegram account using blockchain-powered anonymous numbers offered on the Fragment platform, the messaging service announced in a blog post. Earlier, the app allowed users to manage who can see their number and search for them using it, but doing so still required a SIM card.
Additionally, Telegram has launched an auto-delete chat function that enables users to specify a timer for the automatic deletion of any new chat messages. The new capabilities won’t have an impact on existing chats, but users may enable the auto-delete function by pressing the new menu in Settings > Privacy & Security > Auto-Delete Messages.
For groups with more than 100 members, the app has also made Topics available in addition to these. Users can go to the most recent subject immediately from their chat list when groups with topics are opened in a stylish two-column style.
The most recent update also adds a new tool that group administrators can use to enable an additional “aggressive” option for automated spam filters. Temporary QR codes that enable users to add others as contacts without sharing their phone number are another crucial privacy feature.
For iOS users, Telegram has also launched a new emoji search option. The messaging service claims to have included more interactive emoji for all users as well as 10 more bespoke emoji packs for Premium subscribers.
