Startup Accelerator Y Combinator Reveals 20 New Startup Ideas for Summer 2024
Applications of artificial intelligence, climate technology, and spatial computing are among the latest projects that Y Combinator is looking to support.
The list was released on Wednesday. In the most recent iteration of its RFS, or “Request for Startups,” tradition, which dates back to 2009, the organization made a call for the kinds of startups it wants to presently sponsor in a blog post written by YC Managing Director Dalton Caldwell.
Since 2018, the company hasn’t updated its list of requests for startups. Though it did look for businesses that would have an impact on the course of COVID-19 during the epidemic, it also made specific requests for certain kinds of startups as one-offs, such as calling for more climate tech in 2022 and government 2.0 startups in 2019.
The updated list included climate tech as well. Even though COVID-19 was no longer a priority, demands for companies focusing on cancer treatment, biological system foundational models, managed service organization models, and doing away with intermediaries in healthcare still pertain to the healthcare industry.

With the introduction of the Vision Pro by Apple, YC is hedging its bets that “spatial computing”—that is, entrepreneurs developing for the mixed reality environment that AR/VR headsets like the Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 have introduced—may also merit some attention.
