Google Threat Intelligence with Gemini AI Capabilities Launched for Cybersecurity Professionals
Google Threat Intelligence, the company’s newest cybersecurity-focused threat detection and analysis tool, was unveiled on Tuesday. As part of Google Cloud Security, the internet giant is launching the solution, which it claims will help cybersecurity professionals see threats from around the world more clearly. The company’s artificial intelligence (AI) model Gemini will be used to its full potential by the threat intelligence platform. Two of the company’s security-focused companies, Mandiant and VirusTotal, will also share their perspectives on the platform.
The platform was unveiled in San Francisco during the RCA conference. “Google Threat Intelligence includes Gemini in Threat Intelligence, our AI-powered agent that provides conversational search across our vast repository of threat intelligence, enabling customers to gain insights and protect themselves from threats faster than ever before,” Google wrote in a blog post announcing the announcement.
According to the IT giant, one of the main worries for cybersecurity experts is the visibility of risks, which necessitates a thorough understanding of the landscape and takes a lot of time to gather, process, and turn into actionable insights. Google Threat Intelligence asserted that its product could address both issues.
The company claimed to have a wealth of threat intelligence thanks to its daily defense of 1.5 billion email accounts and four billion devices against 100 million phishing attempts. In addition, Mandiant, a cybersecurity research company with an emphasis on incident response, will contribute its findings to the solution. Google subsidiary Chronicle Security owns VirusTotal, which will make its crowdsourced malware database available.
Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro AI model, which functions as a conversational chatbot and aids in gathering information and insights from the company’s database, will also support the platform. The statement also stated that “customers can now easily and quickly analyze suspicious files, condense large data sets in a matter of seconds, and simplify difficult manual threat intelligence tasks.” Malware can also be reverse-engineered by AI. The IT company showcased the capabilities of Gemini by claiming that it could parse the whole decompiled code of the malware file for WannaCry in a single attempt, whereas it took 34 seconds to analyze and identify the killswitch.
Within the suite of products offered by Google Cloud Security, in addition to Google Security Operations, Mandiant Consulting, Security Command Center Enterprise, and Chrome Enterprise, is Google Threat Intelligence. Companies can contact the company if they are interested in onboarding the platform.
