GameUp Africa Unveils Second Annual Bootcamp for Entry-level Game Developers in Africa
The second annual bootcamp for aspiring African game developers, GameUp Africa 2, has started.
GameUp Africa 2 is a training program for prospective game creators that is run by Maliyo Games, a renowned game development studio.
Its goals are to upskill African youth in the fundamental skills needed for Android game creation while supporting the continent’s gaming ecosystem.
A significant issue facing the African gaming industry and the larger digital economy is aggressively addressed in GameUp Africa 2. In comparison to other regions of the world, Africa has fewer resources for game creation. This is a result of the gaming culture, lack of access to high-quality education, and inadequate infrastructure.
Local gaming studios have been finding it difficult to hire qualified individuals to expand their product pipelines for over a decade now since the talent that is already available needs more education funding to advance their skills.
Hugo Obi, the CEO and founder of Maliyo Games, is the mind behind GameUp Africa. “What if there was a method to help small game development studios and emerging talent grow their skills and talent?” he remarked before introducing the bootcamp. This was where GameUp Africa began.
Hugo continued, “We are proud to be working to assist skills development within the African games sector, opening up new career options for applicants and fostering economic growth as a result. The African gaming scene could advance with the help of this program.
By bridging the gap between aspiring game developers and studios that require them, GameUp Africa is improving the African game development scene. The participants are given the chance to pursue their ambitions to design video games and transform the global and African gaming industries.
Many of the bootcamp’s former participants are now succeeding professionally in video game studios all around the continent.
Young people are encouraged to apply to the GameUp Africa Bootcamp if they are prepared to shift the direction of their careers in game development.
