AMAS to launch digital agri-bank for Ethiopian farmers

Alliance Microfinance (AMAS) has signed a grant agreement with Norad, based on an application form submitted in partnership with Norwegian Church Aid, Norwegian tech company Bakken & Bæck, and a leading industrial conglomerate in Ethiopia East African Group.
AMAS is the lead partner and grant manager running the project and aims to provide farmers across the greater Addis Ababa urban areas with digital, financial services, and market integration through digital agri-banks.
AMAS achieved this important milestone through active participation and commitment with three strong partners in the project. Norwegian Church Aid enjoys a strong 40-year presence across Ethiopia.
The organization works through partners, mobilization of urban farmers, and provision of training and inputs. Bakken & Bæck developed a recent version of the Vipps payment solution which looks to design the most relevant digital solutions.
This ensures market scalability for farmers and producers. East African Group, one of Ethiopia’s largest employers will engage with and further develop their logistics and distribution capabilities.
Through this unique partnership, people are content with the average income of farmers.
