WhatsApp Added Chat Filters to Easily Recall Previously Read Messages
New Chat Filters are being released by WhatsApp to help with message organization. Without having to browse through the complete chat list, users can now quickly identify the most crucial chats thanks to the latest upgrade. Similar to Google’s Gmail, WhatsApp’s Chat Filters function provides three filter choices to make message browsing more effective. The conversation list will have them at the top. All WhatsApp users are expected to receive the Chat Filters in the upcoming weeks as they roll out.
Chat Filters were released on Tuesday, April 16, according to a blog post by Meta-owned instant messaging program WhatsApp. Users will find it easier to view all of their unread chats at once with this new functionality.
As previously indicated, the update offers users a selection of three filters: All, Unread, and Groups. The conversation list will display these options at the top.
While Unread displays messages that have either not been opened or have been designated as unread by the user, All is the default view. Subgroups of Communities and group chats can be viewed by tapping on Groups.
For WhatsApp users who find it difficult to respond to unread messages from several senders, the Chat Filters function could be quite helpful. WhatsApp announced that all users would be able to access the filter options in the upcoming weeks as they were rolling out. This upgrade was originally observed on the Android 2.22.16.14 WhatsApp beta. A similar functionality was added to Gmail in 2020.
The latest Chat Filters on WhatsApp are an extension of Meta’s continuous endeavors to improve the platform’s user experience. The social media behemoth introduced Pinned Messages earlier in December, allowing users to draw attention to a particular point in any ongoing group or one-on-one discussion. Additionally, it introduced the voice message View Once option. Similar to that, earlier this year, it debuted a new bottom navigation bar for Android.
