Twitter is Reportedly Developing an Edit Button
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is already wielding authority at Twitter after acquiring a $2.9 billion stake in the firm, making him the company’s largest shareholder.
He asked his 80 million Twitter followers if they wanted an edit button in a tweet. Twitter’s current CEO, Parag Agrawal, joined in and quoted his poll, stating, “The repercussions of this poll will be important.” Please vote with caution.”

The edit tool was the most eagerly awaited Twitter feature, as it would allow users to quickly modify their tweets, particularly to rectify errors.
Twitter teased this on April Fool’s Day, but it appears like it will happen soon.

If this functionality is ever deployed, there will have to be regulations in place to prevent bad actors from editing their tweets in order to avoid being blocked by “this you” tweets.
The best solution is for users to be able to amend their tweets while keeping the original message for accountability. Elon Musk concurs.
Under two conditions. It’s only available for a few minutes, 5-10 mins. And when an edit is made, there’s a small link that shows the edit. This keeps a public record but allows the tweeter the ability to fix a simple mistake and not re-notify their followers with a new tweet

Even Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth shared the same thought.

Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was against adding an edit button to the platform.
There are no timelines to expect but Michael Sayman, Twitter’s product lead quote-tweeted the original tweet saying:

So fingers crossed, Twitter is actually building this feature.
