Twitter is back online after a software glitch knocked out service
Twitter said on Friday that it had fixed a software bug in its microblogging website that had caused service disruptions for thousands of its users.
Twitter had previously stated on its status page that it was experiencing an increase in the number of application programming interface errors, which are a set of protocols for developing and integrating application software.
In a tweet, the company stated, “We’ve fixed a technical bug that was preventing timelines from loading and Tweets from posting.”
Over 40,000 users reported the service down on Downdetector, a website that tracks outages by compiling status reports from various sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. Around 2,000 Indian users reported the problem on Downdetector around midnight on Friday.
According to the complaints, users were unable to access Twitter via Android, iOS, or a web browser.
Some Reddit users reported being logged out of their Twitter accounts, while others reported being unable to send or retrieve tweets.
Last month, Twitter experienced an outage as well. The company acknowledged the issue and announced a fix shortly after some affected users and Downdetector reported it. In addition to Twitter, some users were unable to access Counter-Strike, Roblox, Trello, and Twitch due to various outages. Grand Theft Auto V is also having problems, according to user reports (GTA V or GTA 5).
