TMCEL Unveils Ericsson Wallet Platform in Mozambique
TMCEL customers, one of Mozambique’s largest telecom firms, will now be able to benefit from the financial convenience provided by Ericsson’s mobile financial services solutions, as TMCEL went live with the Ericsson Wallet Platform yesterday.
Ericsson’s solution is expected to broaden the financial transaction community by contributing to economic and digital development, as well as connecting and supporting new emerging industries.
TMCEL chose Ericsson to upgrade its existing mobile money service, mKesh, by implementing Ericsson Wallet Platform, according to the announcement, and the solution is now live in the Southern African country.
Ericsson’s Wallet Platform
Ericsson Wallet Platform, Ericsson’s mobile financial Services solution, is a financial services platform based on cutting-edge security technologies and open architecture framework principles.
Currently, more than 300 million people worldwide use Ericsson Wallet Platform solutions provided by communications service providers. The platform’s goal is to empower financial management, particularly for those who do not have access to traditional banking services.
It will provide TMCEL Mozambique customers with simple financial services such as the ability to store, transfer, and withdraw money, pay merchants and utility providers, and use financial services such as savings and loans.
Ericsson Wallet Platform to mKesh
According to the telecom firm, the upgrade of the existing mobile financial service solution, mKesh, to Ericsson Wallet Platform will make it easier for TMCEL’s customers to make fast and easy-to-use financial transactions on a next-generation mobile financial service.
“The upgrade of the mKesh mobile financial service with Ericsson is a critical component of our ambition to support Mozambique’s digital transformation.” “Our joint commitment to financial inclusion is critical to broadening the depth of the country’s economy,” says TMCEL COO Binda Celestino Augusto Jocker.
“The Ericsson Wallet Platform provides us with the most up-to-date security technologies, while the open architecture enables us to offer the solution to a larger portion of Mozambicans for financial transactions, broadening our ecosystem and achieving our vision of financial inclusion.”
“Our long-standing partnership with TMCEL is complemented by our Ericsson Wallet Platform to support Mozambique’s financial inclusion.” “With Ericsson’s industry-leading and cutting-edge Wallet Platform, we are enabling TMCEL to broaden the community of financial transactions while also contributing to economic and digital development, connecting and supporting new emerging industries, and accelerating #AfricaInMotion,” says Todd Ashton, VP and Head of Ericsson South and East Africa.
