South African social innovators can now apply for SAB SHARP Awards
The SAB SHARP Awards, created in collaboration with the SAB Foundation, are aimed at innovators and social entrepreneurs with creative ideas or prototypes that empower women in at-risk communities.
The SAB SHARP Awards are seeking for ideas that help these women become economically self-sufficient or address challenges like Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and gender-based violence.
Applicants with unique and inventive ideas that aim to build or improve an existing social innovation are welcome to apply, with grant funding ranging from US$15,000 to US$30,000.
Each award recipient is also eligible for personalized business counseling, mentorship, and technical help in addition to the financing. This program is adaptable to the needs of each awardee, as agreed upon by both the awardee and the mentor.
“We are excited to collaborate with the SAB Foundation on this initiative, and we hope that it will introduce us to some of South Africa’s best innovators with whom we can collaborate to develop sustainable solutions for women in our communities,” said Barbara Copelovici, SAB Entrepreneurship Director.
Applications are open to all South African citizens of 18 years or older, and close on June 1.
