Fostering its goal to provide home-based medical services in South Africa, Quro Medical has raised an undisclosed funding amount from Life Healthcare Group.
The Johannesburg-based digital health startup leverages technology to monitor the health of patients in real-time. Via its platform, patients can receive medical attention or consultation from wherever they are, thereby making healthcare more accessible and affordable.
Four months ago, the healthcare startup secured $1.1 million in a funding round led by Enza Capital and Mohau Equity partners, to stimulate its services and scale its operations across the country, thereby tending to the demand of its ever-increasing customer base.
The current investment raised would further boost the achievement of the company’s vision.
Founded by Dr Vuyane Mhlomi, Rob Cornish, and Zikho Pali in 2018, the hospital-at-home service provider ensures all vital elements needed for in-patient care are present at the residence of its patients, in addition to its telemedicine service.
Dr Vuyane Mhlomi described how adequate data, which aids in providing clinical interventions, can create expected and positive results for patients.
“When you’re able to be further assisted in your own home, your recovery and healing is accelerated.”
According to Mhlomi, Quro Medical goes beyond traditional telehealth, delivering outstanding medical services. The startup seeks to utilise Life Healthcare’s tremendous medical experience, thriving beyond its current reach.
“Patients get safe, world-class treatment with 24/7 monitoring in the best place to continue healing: at home. We’re excited to leverage Life Healthcare’s vast hospital experience with our home-care expertise to give patients affordable access to at-home medical services”.
The investment will also help Quro Medical expand into other markets where Life Healthcare has its footprints.
