Proto Secures $5.6 Million in Series A Funding
A $5.6 million Series A fundraising round, headed by Mucker Capital, was successfully completed by Proto, a Canadian company that offers artificial intelligence (AI) customer experience solutions.
Current shareholder Yolo Investments also participated in the round.
The company helps contact center operators automate client interactions in their local tongues, including the National Bank of Rwanda, Bank of Ghana, and Medical City Clinic. These operators can be found anywhere, from Zambia to the Philippines.
Regional languages like Cebuano, Kinyarwanda, and Twi might be particularly difficult for chatbots to understand due to a lack of machine learning training materials.
In the midst of crises that have been particularly painful for people in the developing world, inclusion as a guiding principle is more important than ever for citizen involvement and consumer experience, according to Curtis Matlock, CEO of Proto. Proto’s conversational AI installations for local languages are overcoming lengthy wait times, unresolved issues, and limited language and channel support in more than a dozen emerging regions.
The company addresses this issue through the employment of chatbots powered by its in-house natural language processing (NLP) technology and countrywide, data-intensive deployments with regulators like central banks across 2000+ private sector entities. HermesAITM, Proto’s NLP engine, excels at understanding regional and mixed languages like Taglish (a hybrid of Tagalog and English).
