Prediction for 2022: Tesla vehicle deliveries will reach 1.5 million in 2022
Tesla’s goal of bringing electric vehicles into the mainstream is gaining traction, as evidenced by the company’s consistent growth in deliveries.
As the EV manufacturer ramps up production, the number of delivered vehicles is expected to reach all-time highs in 2022.
According to Finbold data, Tesla’s 2021 deliveries totaled 936,172, an increase of 87.4 percent from 499,550 in 2020. In 2019, the company delivered 367,500 vehicles across a variety of models.
Since the company began delivering electric vehicles in 2014, the highest annual growth rate was 137.8 percent between 2017 and 2018, from 103,100 to 245,200.
Tesla delivered 32,000 vehicles in 2014, 50,000 vehicles in 2015, and 76,200 vehicles in 2016.
Based on the company’s historical year-over-year percentage growth average between 2014 and 2021, Fibold predicts that vehicle shipments will surpass one million for the first time in 2022, reaching 1,544,402, a 64.9 percent increase over last year’s figure. The target will also be influenced by operations at the new Texas and Berlin plants.

In general, Tesla continues to increase its annual vehicle deliveries, despite the EV industry facing challenges related to the coronavirus pandemic’s global supply chain and logistics.
However, the company is known to design its chips in-house to avoid the semiconductor shortage, giving it a competitive advantage over other automakers. Simultaneously, Tesla has reprogrammed software to use less scarce chips.
