Students affected by the ASUU strike can upgrade their skills thanks to scholarships from Nexford and PiggyVest.
The next-generation university Nexford University in Washington, DC, announced its most recent collaboration with PiggyVest, an African fintech that assists over three million clients in reaching their financial objectives by making saving and investing simple.
The cooperation between Nexford University and PiggyVest was revealed as a new step in the university’s commitment to ensuring that everyone has access to a cost-effective and continuous education in a statement made accessible to newsmen in Lagos on Friday, June 24, 2022.
For the first round, 40 students will each receive a scholarship to help them develop their knowledge of business analytics, product management, 360-degree marketing, and digital transformation. For a limited number of programs, PiggyVest will pay all tuition costs in full.
Odunayo Eweniyi, COO and Co-Founder of PiggyVest, claims “We’re more than committed to doing our part, however modest, to ensure that undergraduates impacted by the ongoing strike have a way to complete their education. Our firm was started by young Nigerians who met in college. We really feel that continual learning is crucial to development, which is why we’re collaborating with Nexford University on this project. We believe that having access to these programs, which develop some of the most in-demand abilities right now, is a good place to start.”
This alliance will help PiggyVest’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to give young people the skills they need to land lucrative international jobs with national and international businesses.
Dr. Jennifer Bangoura, the director of career innovation at Nexford, spoke about this new cooperation and said, “We consider it a pleasure to collaborate with PiggyVest. PiggyVest is a prime example of what it means to be forward-thinking, creative, and customer-focused, principles that permeate the whole Nexford program. Through this collaboration, students who are currently impacted by the ASUU strike would have access to a nonstop learning opportunity from a global organization to develop the necessary skills to be competitive in a work market that is always changing.”
Nexford is dedicated to closing talent gaps and addressing the biggest employer concern in the world today: skills. The university is committed to enabling social and economic mobility through high-quality yet affordable American education, delivered entirely online, and it is committed to broadening its global reach and strengthening its commitment through strategic partnerships with important players in various sectors.
