Pathway Cycles is charting the course to a high e-bikes adoption rate in SA
Pathway Cycles, a local firm that pioneered the use of e-bikes in South Africa, aims to develop a sustainable business model for its stakeholders while also providing a greener, more affordable solution to those wishing to go around.
Pathway Cycles is an eco-friendly delivery service that uses a tried-and-true, trademarked methodology that combines e-bikes, digital outdoor advertising, and a first-rate delivery service.
Craig Atkinson, Warrick Ross, and Trever Wentworth created the company, the latter of which has been investing in e-bikes in the United States since 2016 and saw an untapped possibility for this model in South Africa.
Following importing ten e-bikes for trial use in 2018, the trio introduced its delivers solution in April of last year, after three years of testing, modifying, and pivoting. “Pathway Cycles had zero late deliveries and never ran out of battery life after over 300 successful deliveries on our test e-bikes and six months of extensive trials with one of South Africa’s busiest delivery hubs,” Atkinson told Disrupt Africa.
“Due to our enhanced battery life, drivers can work double shifts and travel 100-120 kilometers every day.” Services and repairs are hassle-free and cost-effective with simple, easy-to-use, plug-and-play parts.”
Pathway Cycles now aspires to become the “go-to” e-bike delivery firm for the commercial sector, with this success under its belt and growth of more than 350% in its first six months. According to Atkinson, the model has been successful on a global scale.
“Electric motorcycles are increasingly becoming the future of worldwide delivery, with many organizations shifting to a greener and more cost-effective option.” Using traditional modes of transportation, such as scooters, automobiles, and motorcycles, is inefficient, outmoded, requires extensive maintenance and repair, and is harmful to the environment. Pathway Cycles is the go-to name in e-bike delivery, with a green solution that is easy on the wallet and committed, on-the-ground customer care and roadside assistance teams,” he said.
“Riders enjoy riding e-bikes on their delivery routes.” Pathway Cycles e-bikes are perfect for getting around Cape Town because they are regulated and can be used in bicycle lanes. This favors delivery riders because they now have their own lanes to use on numerous public highways. Customers will be pleased, and revenue will increase, if deliveries are made quickly and easily. Add to it the power of digital, mobile, and outdoor advertising, as well as the opportunity for businesses to earn extra money through ViziCube. It is the only turnkey system for environmentally friendly distribution that that includes revenue-generating advertising.”
