Kenyan e-health startup Zuri Health opens office in Senegal
Zuri Health, a Kenyan startup, has expanded its operations into Senegal through a partnership with telecoms firm Expresso Senegal.
In January, Disrupt Africa reported on the launch of Zuri Health, which enables users to book appointments with any medical professional or hospital in their region, book laboratory tests, communicate with practitioners via message or video, and request home visits.
Users can order prescription and over-the-counter medications online and have them delivered to their home in the app’s Pharmacy section. The app includes SMS functionality, which is intended to reach a diverse group of individuals or users who may not have access to WAP or internet-enabled devices.
In partnership with Expresso Senegal, the startup has now expanded into Senegal, allowing Expresso subscribers to easily sign up for Zuri and begin chatting and consulting with a doctor via SMS. Patients will receive real-time and dependable responses from certified doctors, as well as affordable healthcare and private health information that is secure and protected.
“We are very excited to be working with Expresso Senegal as our Senegalese telco partner.” Zuri Health has recognized Africa’s unique challenges and provided medical consultation via SMS service to over 65 percent of the population who do not have access to smartphones or the internet. Patients can now consult with a doctor for as little as CFA30. “Our commitment to providing quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare is the driving force behind our collaboration with Expresso Senegal,” said Ikechukwu Arthur Anoke, founder and CEO of Zuri Health.
“It is with great pleasure that Expresso Senegal and Zuri Health jointly launch the health app Zuri Health.” This is a significant innovation in the Senegalese healthcare ecosystem, allowing Expresso Senegal to once again contribute to the solution of the population’s challenges in accessing a first-resort physician for guidance and referrals,” said Radi Almamoun, acting CEO of Expresso Senegal.
