Innovator of Ubenwa and Co-Founder Fisher Foundation,Charles Onu Represents Africa at the Jeanne Sauvé Public Leadership Program 2015 –2017
Charles Onu,a young Nigerian Software Developer and Technology Entrepreneur, is one of the 12 young leaders – and the only African – selected from across the globe to participate in the Jeanne Sauvé Public Leadership Program 2015 –2017
The Jeanne Sauve Public Leadership Program is a 2-year fellow ship organised by the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation. The program aims to convene,engage and empower young leaders (aged 25 to 30) from all over the globe who are using their skills and expertise in ways that are helping to create a better and more sustainable world.
From over 1400 global applicants, 12 young leaders were selected, of which Charles Onu was the only African. In the official announcement
from Jeanne Sauvé Foundation, Charles was described as “a software developer and humanitarian technology researcher committed to sustainability and balanced resource allocation in Nigeria.”
Charles Onu is the principal innovator behind Ubenwa a digital health initiative which applies machine learning and mobile
technology to provide portable, affordable, and reliable diagnosis of birth asphyxia from new borns. He was formerly a President/Team Leader in Enactus.In 2013, he co-founded and presently heads Research & Development at Fisher Foundation
Charles is passionate about developing high impact technologies that address social challenges. With this prestigious appointment into the
Jeanne Sauvé program, it offer him more collaborations and knowledge transfer prowess that will help increase the value and scale of youth empowerment,leadership and entrepreneurial projects in Nigeria.
