HabariPay, Nigerian Fintech Startup Announces Hackathon, Targets Undergraduate Innovators
To empower Nigerian companies and young innovators, HabariPay Ltd., a fintech company based in Nigeria that offers best-in-class payment solutions to support the expansion and success of businesses throughout Africa, has announced the commencement of its inaugural hackathon, “Take on Squad Hackathon 1.0.”
The goal of the Take on Squad Hackathon 1.0 is to find young innovators in Nigerian universities and other educational institutions. The hackathon’s main goal is to positively influence young Nigerians by giving them access to transformative technological tools that will empower them to develop creative, useful tech solutions and collaboratively hone their coding skills. Hackathon participants will be the only ones able to use Squad’s state-of-the-art APIs to implement their ideas.

With intense coding sessions on day one, product presentations, panel discussions, and the winner announcement on day two, the two-day event looks to be jam-packed with action. N2.5 million will be given to the team with the most creative proposal; N1.5 million will go to the first runner-up; and N1 million will go to the third-place team. The top three teams will also get the exceptional chance to enroll in the Squad Hackademy, where they will be given mentorship and have access to internship and employment options arranged by HabariPay is an e-commerce website that allows businesses to sell goods and services. Its solutions, which are licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), include Squad, a comprehensive payment tool that simplifies both in-person and online payments; and Value-Added Services– to assist merchants in gaining access to flexible and affordable data and airtime packages for operating their operations; additionally, to provide a switching infrastructure that enables tech-focused enterprises to optimize costs and streamline transactions.
