Google Is Rolling Out Digital Wellbeing Widget for Android Users Soon
We’re all aware that spending too much time on our smartphones is bad for our health, both physical and mental, which is why, in recent years, firms have begun to develop tools to help users obtain more insight into how much time they spend on their phones, apps they use, and so on.
The idea is that by making people aware of what they’re spending their time on, they’ll discover they’re spending too much time on something and will reduce their time spent on it. In the case of Android, the feature is known as Digital Wellbeing. The feature is now hidden in the Android Settings menu, but Google intends to bring it to the fore.
According to an APK deconstruction by 9to5Google, they discovered evidence that Google is working on developing a widget for Android homescreens that will allow users to put Digital Wellbeing data front and center. This implies that users will be able to see information such as time spent on their phones, which apps they’ve spent the most time on, and so on at a glance.
It’s a good concept, but we don’t know when it’ll be available, however given that it’s in the newest APK, it should be sooner rather than later.
