FreshSource, an Egyptian agri-tech startup closes a 7-figure seed funding round
FreshSource, an Egyptian startup that claims to be reinventing the agricultural supply chain, has closed a seven-figure US dollar seed funding round as it seeks to become the region’s largest fresh food distributor.
FreshSource, founded in 2019 by Farah and Omar Emara, is a B2B agri-supply chain platform that uses technology to transform the way fresh goods are sourced, moved, and sold. The startup collaborates with a variety of producers, such as farms, and provides fresh fruit and vegetables to businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and online retailers.
The company is rapidly expanding, and it now serves major customers in 11 Egyptian cities.
The company’s expansion will pick up speed now that it has received a seven-figure US dollar seed investment from 4DX Ventures and Wamda. FreshSource plans to use the funds to expand geographically within the Egyptian market, as well as to improve its technology platform and expand its team. It also intends to expand within the MENA region.
“We are honored to have the trust of some of the region’s most powerful investors, who share our vision of leveraging data and technology to streamline the inefficient agri supply chain.” “With this new investment, we will be able to continue to bring in top talent and build the team we need to achieve our mission and accelerate our growth,” said Omar Emara.
“We’re very excited to work with Farah and Omar.” So far, they’ve demonstrated excellent market knowledge and execution, and we believe they have the potential to build a truly significant business in the coming years. Great pricing, dependability, and quality are critical in the agriculture and food industries, and FreshSource is assisting in delivering a service quality that is far ahead of anything else on the market,” said Peter Orth, co-founder and managing partner at 4DX Ventures.
