Apply now for the ASME Idea Lab
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is now taking submissions for the first round of its Idea Lab incubator, a new program that expands the scope of the ASME Innovation Showcase (ISHOW) hardware accelerator platform.
ASME, a not-for-profit professional organization founded in 1880, facilitates collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development across all engineering disciplines while emphasizing the importance of engineers in society.
Individuals and teams who have identified an urgent social and/or environmental concern that they believe could be addressed through hardware-led innovation are welcome to apply to Idea Lab. Applicants can submit an engineering issue statement or a proposed hardware solution that will have a positive impact on disadvantaged populations once developed and scaled.
Depending on their stage of development, technical skills, and mentorship requirements, an initial batch of Idea Lab candidates will be enrolled in the program for six to 18 months. They will receive a variety of benefits, including design guidance, professional mentorship and evaluation, design services, design and engineering software and tools, and funds to pay prototyping costs.
The application deadline is June 6.
