Africa Data Centres to Construct Second Data Facility in Cape Town
The firm owned by Cassava Technologies, Africa Data Centres, revealed intentions to erect a 20MW data center near Cape Town on Wednesday.
The new facility, which is scheduled to debut in the middle of next year, will have an IT load of up to 20MW. The company now has two data centers in Cape Town. The building process has already begun.
According to Tesh Durvasula, CEO of Africa Data Centres, the demand for data centers in the area is expanding significantly.
The new building has 12,000 square meters of empty space (the space available for customers to lease).
The business stated, “With the addition of this second data center facility in Cape Town, our total number of data centers in South Africa now stands at four, and it is a component of our investment plans to deliver an additional 10 data centers in Africa.
“The second Cape Town facility is being constructed in accordance with Africa Data Centres’ new standard modular design, which has already been implemented in Johannesburg at the company’s flagship Midrand facility and will be deployed throughout Africa in several markets.
In order to give customers the choice of deploying in two locations, the new data center in Cape Town is strategically positioned to provide “geographic redundancy from the company’s existing site, which lies in the south of the city.”
