10 Kenyan Startups Joins $10k Wazo Challenge
Ten Kenyan entrepreneurs have been chosen to engage in Hindsight Ventures’ Wazo Challenge, where they will fight for a $10,000 cash prize and other benefits.
The Wazo Challenge is being held for the third time by Hindsight Ventures, and it is the first time it is taking place in Kenya. The program is a four-week venture development bootcamp supervised by global mentors and industry partners, culminating in an investor demo day. It is aimed towards Kenyan entrepreneurs aged 18 to 30 who are creating a tech-based firm.
The shortlisted startups will compete for a grant of $10,000 in addition to various forms of assistance.
Kiri EV, Afrigility’s on-demand warehousing solution, Mawu Africa’s creative marketplace, StoFresh Africa’s fresh food supply chain solution, and DoctorsLive’s digital mental health care platform are among them.
Deferred tuition payment platform Chaptr Global, internet connectivity platform NikoRadius, agri-tech startup Biosorra, payments platform PayClide, and blood monitoring gadget NutriTech round out the list.
“We see Wazo Challenge as a critical, bottom-of-the-pyramid enabler of the startup ecosystem, helping to find winners at an early stage and guiding them through scaling and fundraising through our mentorship.” Our startups have raised strategic funding and been accepted into international accelerators, which is a success for them and the ecosystem as a whole,” said Ajay Ramasubramaniam, co-founder and CEO of Hindsight Ventures.
