Twitter is Working on a Co-Author Feature
Twitter has begun testing the ‘co-author’ tweet feature, which Instagram will launch on its platform in 2021.
This functionality comes in handy when two accounts wish to have their names associated with a single post, such as in brand partnerships or influencer campaigns. Once published, collaborative tweets are shared with followers from both accounts, and both avatars appear in the top left corner of the post.
Twitter has revealed to TechCrunch that it is “exploring” a new feature that would allow two accounts to co-author a single tweet. Alessandro Paluzzi, an app researcher, has been providing proof of the feature’s development since at least December.
According to TechCrunch’s screenshots, users will only be able to invite public accounts who follow them to co-author a tweet, and they must accept the invitation.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk disclosed in a regulatory filing on Monday that he owns 9.2 percent of Twitter. Musk bought roughly 73.5 million shares. Musk’s stake in Twitter is classified as a passive investment, which means he is a long-term investor who wants to limit his buying and selling of the stock.
Late last week, it was reported that TweetDeck would soon become a paid feature available only to Twitter Blue subscribers.
A sign-up page for the upcoming version of TweetDeck, Twitter’s tweet management tool, was discovered by a tipster. Twitter released a major redesign of TweetDeck in July of last year.
