Andela unveils talent-matching platform
Andela Wednesday, a talent outsourcing firm, has announced that it is expanding its services beyond engineering to encompass design, data, and product management.
The news comes six months after Andela raised $200 million in a Series E round, valuing the company at $1.5 billion and confirming its status as one of Africa’s unicorn startups.
“Having worked across the continent and beyond, we realize that the tech ecosystem need more than just engineering skill,” said Agnes Muthoni, Director of the Andela Learning Community.
The new group of technical talent will go through an onboarding procedure that includes English language and soft-skills testing, technical evaluations, and a portfolio review.
This follows the launch of its new talent matching platform, which the business claims will provide a “more direct and personalized hiring experience” for both candidates and recruiters.
This new platform is intended to provide a direct and personalized job search experience for both recruiters and candidates, resulting in a favorable hiring experience.
Andela’s story
Andela was founded in 2014 as a global talent network that connects businesses with vetted, remote technical talent in emerging markets through a hands-on matching process, allowing clients to extend their technical teams.
Its objective is to train software developers and give job prospects for them, as well as to cultivate Africa’s IT capabilities and provide global technology firms with access to a highly trained workforce pool.
The company has now expanded its portfolio to include designers, product managers, and data talent, in addition to its focus on high-quality global engineering expertise from over 100 nations. Andela is launching a new brand identity to reflect this expansion.
For its talent matching tool, it is introducing a self-serving option. This new platform gives businesses the option of handling the employment process on their own.
Agnes Muthoni says:
“Our data-driven approach to connecting talent with global opportunities now offers personalised and bespoke experiences for recruiters and candidates alike. Talent can now choose offerings that better suit their skills and lifestyle, while recruiters can quickly identify and hire candidates with the right skills and experience for their organisation in as little as 48 hours, helping them increase efficiency and productivity”.

How does it work?
The company’s new platform makes smart match recommendations quickly using data-driven technologies and algorithms. The technology reduces the time it takes for hiring managers and recruiters to progress through the employment lifecycle by eliminating typical long contract durations and superfluous calls with sales teams. It focuses on displaying high-quality talent as soon as possible.
Hiring managers may get started on the new platform by creating a company profile, posting a job, and immediately seeing their chosen applicants.
Andela’s matching takes into account the depth and breadth of required skills, as well as time zone and working hour overlaps, industry expertise, and team fit.
Another interesting feature is the ability to fine-tune its personalized recommendations. Users are asked for detailed input as they approve or reject recommendations. The platform grows increasingly personalized with each piece of feedback.
Additionally, job seekers (talents) can use a clear and succinct graph to show how well their skills line up, particularly with their other competing peers, by visualizing compatibility, skills, and preferences.
Andela has specialized in assisting businesses in forming remote engineering teams by providing them with access to the greatest software engineers in the world.
Hundreds of renowned firms, like GitHub, Goldman Sachs, and Cloudflare, are already using Andela’s platform to rapidly increase their engineering teams. Today, this new platform reflects the company’s as well as the global talent industry’s evolution.
The new brand has a more modern style and is more in line with the company’s human-centric objective.
“This is why we created our new platform: to assist talent in finding employment that are more than just a fit for their technical abilities.” Instead, we assist them in finding professions that are a good fit for them. Recruiters will benefit from this as well. Rather of wasting time sifting through applications and making phone calls, our technology identifies talent that matches their particular requirements, allowing businesses to hire top personnel in less than two weeks, and typically in just two to three days.
“Andela’s brand has served as an inspiration to software engineers all over the world who share our idea that brilliance is shared equally.” Brands, on the other hand, must evolve in tandem with the companies they represent. Jeremy Johnson, CEO and co-founder of Andela, says, “I’m proud of what the team delivered and excited to show the world the new Andela.”
The new platform is designed to assist recruiting organizations in finding top talent in less time than the period allotted by hiring managers, while also providing them with a more straightforward approach to their talent hunt.
