WhatsApp: You Can Now Undo Delete For Me Messages
It took WhatsApp some time, but it added the feature to allow users to delete transmitted messages for everyone in 2017.
WhatsApp offers the option to delete a message exclusively for you in addition to removing it for everyone. If you use WhatsApp frequently, you probably encountered a circumstance when you mistakenly selected the Delete for me button rather than the Delete for everyone option. WhatsApp is launching an Accidental Delete function that enables you to restore the deletion of a message that you unintentionally deleted just for yourself. It’s better late than never, right?
In August 2022, it was discovered that the messaging service was developing this function; at the time, a small number of users may test it out on the beta channel. For five seconds after you unintentionally erase a message for yourself, a floating snackbar notification with the Undo button will be visible. To erase the message for everyone, select the option to restore the message. As of right now, WhatsApp does not offer a way to reverse the deletion of a message that you revoke from everyone in the chat.
The five-second window may not always be enough, but WhatsApp may change the time limit in the future. After all, the service previously permitted deleting a message only seven minutes after sending it, but earlier this year the limit was increased to 60 hours.
Users on the stable channel of WhatsApp for Android, iPhone, and desktop have already begun to receive the Accidental Delete feature. This is the third significant update WhatsApp has made this month to its platform. Customizable Avatars debuted on WhatsApp at the start of December. This was followed by various phone and video call enhancements, including the capacity for group video calls of up to 32 participants and the option to mute certain callers.
