WhatsApp Rolls Out Member Tags, Group Event Reminders, and New Chat Features
On Wednesday, WhatsApp revealed a number of new features designed to help users stay in touch and communicate more effectively in group chats. Member tags, which can be appended to a user’s name to offer more contextual information about them, are being introduced by the Meta-owned instant messaging service. Additionally, students can use the new text stickers function to make any word they input into a sticker. Additionally, WhatsApp has started reminding invitees of events.
WhatsApp’s New Features
According to a blog post from the firm, users can tag themselves in group chats on WhatsApp to let the others know what their position is. Additionally, each group’s member tags can be customized. For instance, a user may be tagged “Goalkeeper” in one group discussion and “Anna’s Dad” in another. According to the instant messaging service, this feature would be introduced gradually.
Text stickers are another new feature on WhatsApp. As the name implies, by entering a word into the Sticker Search bar, users can transform it into a sticker. Depending on personal taste, freshly made text stickers can also be sent to a conversation first or placed straight to sticker packs.
Event reminders are the third new feature, aside from this. When creating and sending an event in a group chat, users can establish personalized early reminders for those who are invited. According to the firm, this is intended to assist everyone in remembering to either hop on the call at the appropriate time, depending on the type of event, or commute to the party the user may be throwing.
They can already organize events, pin them for visibility, gather RSVPs, and communicate updates all in one location using the app.
According to WhatsApp, its three new features complement the noteworthy enhancements made to group chats in previous years, such as voice chats, screen sharing, HD media, sharing huge files up to 2GB, and more. Additionally, the instant messaging app is preparing to launch a number of new features in 2026. Usernames on WhatsApp, a built-in chat-clearing tool for clearing up WhatsApp storage, a rigorous account security mode for increased protection, and a mention @all function in group chats are among its anticipated additions.
