WhatsApp resumes beta testing of group profile icons for Android users, while some iOS testers receive updates.
As part of the most recent beta version, WhatsApp has resumed testing a feature that enhances group chats on Android.
Recently, the well-known messaging software started beta testing the option to display profile icons next to messages in group conversations, but it was deactivated in later beta releases. For iOS beta testers, the Meta-owned app has also begun distributing the first iteration of its Updates page. WhatsApp is also working on visual updates for Android, including a new emoji keyboard and toggles in the app’s settings that are styled in the Material You style.
The profile icons started showing up in groups on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.12.7, according to feature tracker WABetaInfo.
Profile icons for all group members and “generic” default profile icons for users who haven’t specified a profile image should be visible to beta testers who have updated to this version. The most recent beta of the software for Android cellphones had the feature enabled, according to Gadgets 360.
Last year, we saw the group profile icon feature under development. After that, it was temporarily made available to beta testers before being turned off. The profile photo icons for group members should be visible to users who update to the most recent beta version of WhatsApp for Android, making it simple to distinguish messages from various senders.
On WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.12.3, toggles for various settings were recently seen being developed with a Material You Themed. In accordance with Google’s Material Design 3 standards for designers, the thin toggles present in the settings area have been updated with bigger switches with a green accent to denote when a setting is enabled.
In the meantime, WABetaInfo discovered a new Updates page in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 23.11.0.70. The function is still under development and is anticipated to appear as a new Status tab that displays Channels and Status to users. One-way communication with Channel users is apparently being worked on by the messaging service owned by Meta.
Additionally, WhatsApp is developing new updates for a redesigned emoji keyboard that is presently in development. According to WABetaInfo, the three buttons that allow a user to choose between the GIF, sticker, and emoji keyboard have been moved to the top of the same section.
