The Nigerian Federal Govt to Provide 40 Million Jobs via the Methanol Fuel Technology Program
According to the federal government, its methanol fuel technology program will give Nigerians over 40 million new job possibilities in the next two years.
The government’s methanol economy revolution, according to Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology, who made this announcement in Abuja over the weekend, will harness the enormous potential of methanol as a clean and sustainable energy source and position the nation as a leader in Africa’s energy transition.
“It can potentially create over 40 million new employment opportunities in two years and complement other efforts in curbing the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the populace,” Nnaji stated. The minister further stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration was dedicated to using scientific and technological innovation to address Nigeria’s issues.
He expressed displeasure that despite the nation’s great natural resource endowment, youth unemployment continues to be a significant problem and that the nation regularly exports domestic jobs by importing goods that can be produced locally.
The minister also insisted that Executive Order 5 would address the bottleneck that Nigeria’s manufacturing sector faces. He added that if properly utilized, improved power supplies, locally made machines, and local technologies would increase exports and raise GDP.
