Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria meets on National Broadband Plan for Nigeria
The Association of Telecommunications Companies Of Nigeria(ATCON) has announced plans for a strategic meeting exclusively for its members to discuss and review the recently launched National Broadband Plan 2013 – 2018. The forum slated for August 01, 2013 is designed to enable ATCON members have a deep understanding of the plan and position themselves to take advantage of the opportunities therein.
In a circular to its members signed by the Executive Secretary, Ajibola Olude, ATCON explained that the Broadband Plan has 8 sections which it has categorized into four sessions, for the purpose of the planed roundtable discussions.
“We hope to divide the gathering of attendees into four sessions on the day of the meeting, each session would thoroughly discuss assigned topics and come out with highlights and recommendations that would be discussed at plenary that comes up after the breakout sessions”; Olude said in the circular.
The Executive Secretary said further; “We encourage members to read the whole plan and pay particular attention to one of the four sessions they would like to attend and make contributions”.
The circular indicated the four sessions are as follows:
- Broadband and its benefits/ Where we are with Broadband – Mrs. Funke Opeke MD/CEO MainOne Cable Co.
- The Challenges of Broadband Operators /Strategy and Roadmap goals and objectives/ Roles for government and other stakeholders – Mr. Guy Clark MD/CEO Vodacom Business Ltd
- Roles for government and other stakeholders/Policy and Regulatory Prorities/ Adoption and Utilization – Mr Adewale Jones Managing Partner Ashfield & Bowman Attorney
- Adoption and Utilization /Local Content Imperative – Mr Tony Izuagbe Emoekpere MD/CEO Anchor Telecoms Nigeria Limited.
