Sony Launches Xperia Z-Water Resistant Android Smartphone in Nigeria
Invited by Sony to be at the unveiling of the latest smartphone introduced in the Nigerian market wasn’t the attraction,we have been at several of such unveiling, i was so curious to see what Sony Mobile communications, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation, a leading global innovator of audio, video, game, communications, key device and information Technology products has at this time for the growing and vibrant Nigerian market.
My experience at the unveiling of the new Xperia Z android and water resistant smartphone from Sony was an exciting one which quickly made me conclude that this could be the best smartphone in the Nigerian market right now.
The high point of the unveiling was when the Xperia Z smartphone was deeped into a container of water, a call was put through to the phone and the xperia Z phone was ringing inside the water..wow!!!,I also learnt from Izzat Kittaneh, the Director, Business Management & pricing Customer Unit MEA at Sony, that the phone have actually stayed in water for over an hour and that one could take shots with it inside the water, isn’t that interesting?.
This multi-faceted phone was unveiled yesterday in lagos at the Oriental Hotel in the presence of top officials from Sony Mobile and Nigeria Media practitioners. It becomes obvious that with the Xperia Z Sony has been able to engineer together the advanced technology from Sony’s entire range of multimedia products that has put them on the lead in their Audio,TV, Camera and other digital products. This offers a great networked connectivity between these devices and the Xperia Z, and as Izzat Kittaneh puts it”Xperia Z offers you the ‘best of Sony in a Smartphone’
In his speech at the launch, Younes Cherkaoui,Marketing Manager Africa,at Sony Mobile Communications, said “the Xperia Z is a game-changer in smart phone technology. It has generated a great deal of excitement internationally since its official launch at the CES in Las Vegas. We anticipate the ultimate range of rich user experiences offered on this stellar model from the xperia range to increase the momentum several times over in key African markets and Nigeria is one of these key markets”
The new Xperia Z has a range of unparalleled and outstanding features like the 5” full HD 1080p Reality Display screen which makes pictures, videos and the phone experience very sharp, crisp and clear, a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, the mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 and a 13 Megapixel fast capture camera with great experience in a social world.
Xperia Z’s razor sharp Reality Display, powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, brings Sony’s long-standing TV expertise to the smartphone and delivers an immersive viewing experience with super brightness and clarity. The smartphone shares capabilities with Sony digital cameras and features Exmor RS for mobile, the world’s first image sensor with HDR(High Dynanic Range)video recording for smartphones.

Despite its slim 7.9mm body, Xperia Z is highly durable with tempered glass and Anti Shatter film on the front and back that makes sure your phone is intact when it drops on the ground. The phone also offers the highest level of dust and water resistance (IP55 and IP57) found in a premium smartphone, so you need not worry about your phone breaking or even water getting on your phone, “you can actually wash your phone if you want” Izzat Kittaneh.
