Samsung to Launch Galaxy S4 Officially in Nigeria
Samsung Electronics West Africa, has announced a date for formally unveiling the fourth generation of its flagship Galaxy S series, the Samsung Galaxy S4, in Nigeria. The device will be introduced to the Nigerian market in Lagos on May 10, 2013 at Oriental Hotels, along with a fashion-themed show aimed at encouraging growth in the Nigeria fashion industry.
The company is already accepting pre-orders for the 5-inch, full HD display flagship device on various online stores in the country ahead of its official launch date in Nigeria. Samsung says customers who take advantage of the pre order campaign are entitled to a free limited edition flip cover of the device, autographed by Samsung Brand Ambassador, Banky W.
They also stand a chance to win a ticket to the official launch of the device as well as an opportunity to spend a weekend at the prestigious Oriental Hotel including dinner with the brand ambassadors.
The beauty of the Samsung Galaxy S4 lies in its highly crafted design, encompassing a larger screen size, battery and minimized bezel, all housed in a light and slim shape. The device is slimmer yet stronger the Galaxy S3, with less to hold yet more to see and will be available in two colour options at its launch – Black Mist and White Frost. Additional colour options are to follow later in the year.
Describing the device as a “life companion”, Managing Director of Samsung Electronics West Africa, Mr. Brovo Kim said that the Galaxy S4 is a product of Samsung’s commitment to redefining the way people live towards maximizing their fulfilment of life.
“With the Galaxy S4, Samsung is again going to enhance the way we live. All the innovative features of Galaxy S4 were developed based on the insights and needs we found from our consumers all around the world. Following the successful Galaxy S series, this phone is yet another great proof point of people-inspired innovation. At Samsung we’ll never stop pursuing innovation conceived by people, so we can inspire them in return,” he said.
The Galaxy S4 runs on Google’s latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system and features 2GB of RAM. The most notable improvement in the Galaxy S4 lies in its camera, which now features various modes to allow users to capture photos from sporting events or in low-light conditions with just one touch. Its dual-shot function will allow users to take pictures and videos with both the 13-megapixel rear camera and front-facing 2-megapixel camera at the same time and combine the input from both cameras into one final product.
Other features of the device include ‘Group Play’, which lets users share music, photos, documents and games with those around them without requiring Wi-Fi or cellular signal; ‘Smart Pause’ which enables users control the screen by where they look and the Smart Scroll’ feature, which lets users scroll through emails without touching the screen.
The ‘Air View’ feature on the Galaxy S4 also allows users to hover with their fingers to preview the content of an email, image gallery or video without having to open it while with ‘Air Gesture’, users can change music tracks, scroll up and down a web page, or accept a call with a wave of their hand.
On his part, Samsung Electronics West Africa’s Business Head (Hand Held Products), Mr. Emmanouil Revmatas, described launching the device with a fashion show as an opportunity for Samsung to give back to the community it operates in by providing support, visibility and an avenue for growth for relatively unknown young designers in Nigeria’s fashion industry.
“The Samsung brand stands for qualities of creativity, style, innovation, change, discovery, self-expression and excellence. And these are the very same qualities that we will like to see in the designs that will be featured at the fashion show to launch the Galaxy S4. We believe that the opportunity will provide an avenue for the development of the participants in their field and Nigeria’s fashion industry in general,” he said.
