OpenAI Reportedly Developing AI Text-to-Music Generator to Compete with Suno
According to reports, OpenAI is developing a tool for artificial intelligence (AI)-generated music. The article claims that after just launching its AI browser, the San Francisco-based AI behemoth now intends to venture into the AI music market. According to reports, the technology can produce instrumental music and can respond to both text and voice directions. The company will now face competition from platforms like Beatoven.ai, Udio, and Suno as a result of the alleged move. When OpenAI will provide this tool to the public and if it will be accessible to all users are unknown.
OpenAI to Reportedly Enter the AI-Generated Music Space
According to The Information, the AI behemoth is creating a new AI tool that can compose music. According to sources acquainted with the situation, the program may also be used to add music to Sora-generated or other non-synthetic videos, as well as to add instruments to a vocal track. While the report did not specify, the AI tool will most likely be powered by a native large language model (LLM) for music production.
OpenAI has concentrated on horizontally growing its offerings in recent months. Last week, the business debuted ChatGPT Atlas, an AI browser, and the Sora app, which integrates AI-generated video creation with a social feed. The corporation seems to be planning to access as many new markets as possible now that the rumored AI music product is in the works. The formalization of the Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), which expands its access to equity, may potentially be the cause of this recent drive.
Not much is known about the AI music generator, but according to the story, the AI behemoth is collaborating with Juilliard School students to annotate the training data for the underlying AI model. It is unknown if the tool is offered as a stand-alone product.
There is already competition in the AI-generated music market. Players like Suno, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Udio, based in New York City; and Beatoven.ai, based in Bengaluru. With its song generating product, Suno in particular is leading the AI music business. A different story from The Information claims that the company’s yearly recurring revenue has almost quadrupled to $150 million, or about Rs. 1,320 crore. Therefore, it would be intriguing to observe whether OpenAI can make a name for itself in this market.
