Nigeria holds Internet Governance Forum 2012
To consolidate Nigeria’s position on the Global Internet Governance Forum, Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications Technology, National Information Technology Development Agency, Nigeria Communications Commission and Global Network for Cybersolution is organizing a one-day Preparatory National Stakeholders’ Forum to call for contributions from various stakeholders toward the forthcoming Global Internet Governance Forum 2012 taking place at Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, from 6 to 9 November 2012 .
The Nigeria forum will hold at the Nicon Luxury Hotel,Abuja on September 25.
The objective of the NIGF 2012 is to coordinate, collate and articulate engagement of public and private sectors, civil societies, academia, security and law enforcement, government, law makers, industry, academia, and the general public in a manner that best promotes and protects the nation’s position on the internet at the Global Forum.
Highlights of the NIGF 2012
· The Theme of the Global IGF 2012 : ‘Internet Governance for Sustainable Human, Economic and Social Development.’
· The Goal of NIGF 2012: Harmonization of National Multi-Stakeholders Positions based on the Global IGF 2012 six Point Agenda: Access; Diversity; Security, Openness & Privacy; Understanding Internet Infrastructure; Managing Critical Internet Resource; Taking Stock & Way Forward.
