mPharma vows to Keep Providing Affordable Healthcare In Africa
The commitment of mPharma, a prominent African healthcare technology business, to offering affordable healthcare solutions in Africa has been reiterated.
Mr. Gregory Rockson, mPharma’s CEO and Co-Founder, revealed this during the virtual introduction of the company’s impact report on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
Mr. Rockson stated at the event that mPharma’s contribution to tackling the healthcare crisis could not be overstated, considering its participation during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the company has used a variety of innovative techniques to expand access to key healthcare services such as molecular diagnostics testing since its beginnings.
He went on to say that the company’s action was aimed at addressing challenges of prescription drug cost and access created by exorbitant margins paid by various stakeholders throughout the drug supply chain.
“To deliver value to patients, we required a solution to address the challenge of drug availability, accessibility, and price.” We started with a pilot in Ghana, our QualityRx initiative, which provides an innovative and reasonable financing solution for struggling mom-and-pop pharmacies with a track record of high performance. Refurbishment, inventory, customer administration, and technology costs are all covered under the program. We not only expanded our pharmacy network by “reviving” existing businesses, but we also enhanced access to affordable pharmaceuticals.
The “a mutti pharmacy” brand is used by pharmacies that follow the QualityRx model. With QualityRx, we came to a step closer to our goal of making medicines more affordable to patients as we directly control prices for all mutti pharmacies”, he said.
He noted further that the company remains committed to building an African in good health. He stated that it had recently secured $35 million in funding as the first tranche of a significant financing round for business operations.
According to him, the funding would drive the expansion of our network of facilities and further improve our tech infrastructure.
He explained further that the company had become an essential factor in providing solutions to the numerous problems caused by the pandemic.
Our free COVID-19 test and millions of COVID-19 test kits have been distributed across government institutions, private labs, and organizations in eight African nations thanks to our collaboration with prestigious partners like Breyer Capital.
“We realized that the private health sector plays an important role in healthcare delivery, and we expected African governments to face difficulty in distributing free COVID-19 testing. We took use of our relationship with mPharma investor Breyer Capital to forge a deal with Sansure Biotech to get one million COVID-19 test kits and 150 Polymerase.”
Former President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, spoke during the introduction of the impact report and thanked mPharma on supporting good health for all Africans.
He also pushed the company to continue striving for technology-based, patient-centered, community-focused initiatives that can satisfy patients’ needs regardless of their location or financial situation.
Serge Amissah, the Head of Value Creation for the Gabon Sovereign Wealth Fund, also spoke at the event and expressed his satisfaction in aiding the reconstruction of Gabon’s health sector. He stated that health is an important resource for future generations, which is why the Fund collaborated with mPharma to develop models for rebuilding Gabon’s central medical store.
Wholesale, retail, and diagnostics are the three units. Vendor-managed inventory services, primary care solutions for community pharmacies, and data analytics are all part of our solution portfolio.

Our objective is to create a healthy Africa by expanding access to pharmaceuticals for all patients at lower costs while ensuring and maintaining quality.
We began operations in Ghana in 2013 and have since extended to eight more African countries: Nigeria, Zambia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Gabon, and Uganda. In our major areas, we already have a network of 500 pharmacies that serve over 100,000 patients each month. Across Africa, our partner pharmacies have dispensed millions of life-saving medications to patients.
