Meta Unveils Digital Training for NGOs Across West Africa
The Non-profit Training Initiative, a digital capacity-building program for 1,500 non-profit professionals across Anglophone West Africa, has been officially launched by Meta.
In addition, the business announced its support for Geda Digital training, a six-month Social Innovators Bootcamp Program for Non-Governmental Organizations, at an event in Lagos (NGOs). The goal of this course is to help the non-profit and social impact sectors in Anglophone West Africa.
“We understand the importance of digital skills, and Meta is committed to assisting non-profits and social enterprises across Nigeria in acquiring these skills by providing information that will increase their overall digital awareness,” Adaora Ikenze, Head of Public Policy for Anglophone West Africa, said during the launch event.
“We understand the requirements of these non-profits, and we’re delighted to work with them to make an impact through our family of apps.” We are thrilled to provide the necessary assistance in upskilling them so that they can expand and deepen the work they conduct in their communities.”
“We congratulate Meta’s initiatives towards strengthening persons working in the non-profit sector,” Maryam Uwais, Special Advisor to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Investments, stated during her keynote presentation. Nigeria’s Federal Government is grateful for this investment. Meta has always been a partner to the government, and we must keep working together to make Nigeria a better place.”
During a fireside conversation during the event, Adeyemi Adenike, Chief Executive Officer, FATE Foundation, emphasized the importance for NGOs to develop cost-effective methods of reaching their target audience and sharing their impact stories, particularly through the use of the Meta family of applications. Chidi Koldsweat, Founder/CEO, Donors for Africa Foundation, backed up this claim by saying that the collaboration on the Geda Digital Training will help NGOs gain awareness.
In 2021, Meta held a series of interactions with the social impact sector, including listening sessions and training for non-profit organizations, to further emphasize the company’s longtime approach to connecting with additional allies and helping NGOs that are using Meta’s family of Apps for good.
Meta also held pilot sessions of its Non-Profit program with partners in Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa.
