Meta founder, Mark Zuckerberg reveals a series of Artificial Intelligence projects
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, has announced new artificial intelligence projects, believing that AI is “the key to unlocking the Metaverse.”
Zuckerberg believes that the mobile internet’s future will be the metaverse, a futuristic concept of virtual spaces in which users can work, socialize, and play.
In a livestreamed demonstration, he demonstrated the AI functionality Builder Bot by creating a basic virtual world with an island, trees, and a beach.
According to Zuckerberg, Meta is working on a new class of generative AI models that will allow anyone to define a world and generate elements of it.
Meta announced in January that it had started work on a new AI supercomputer that, when finished in mid-2022, will be the fastest in the world.
In a presentation, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated an AI concept known as Builder Bot, in which Zuckerberg appeared as a 3D character on an island and provided verbal commands to create a beach and then add clouds and trees.
Furthermore, Zuckerberg revealed that Meta was working on a universal speech translator that would allow for instant speech-to-speech translation in any language.
According to Zuckerberg, Meta is working on AI research to allow users to have more natural interactions with voice assistants, which is a step toward how people will eventually interact with AI in the metaverse.
Meta said it was using the model in its Portal video-calling device and hoped to incorporate it into future augmented reality and virtual reality devices.
Meta is investigating how artificial intelligence can be used to control metaverse content and activity.
Facebook has been investing in artificial intelligence for the past decade.
