MEST Africa Challenge Selects 7 Kenyan Tech Startups for a Regional Competition
The 2022 MEST Africa Challenge will begin with the regional pitch competition, which will feature 36 eligible technology startups from 5 different African nations.
The Competition’s Upcoming Stage
The MEST Africa Challenge and the next regional contests have received some important changes from MEST.
The chosen firms will be divided into 4 primary groups for the regional competition stage, where they will compete in virtual pitch competitions between October 10 and October 13, 2022.
An international jury of subject-matter experts will judge each pitch competition.
10 finalists will be chosen from the regional pitch stage to advance to the next round, which will include one-on-one interviews with the business owners.
Five startups, one from each market, will be chosen after the interview round and invited to Ghana for the final pitch competition and demo day.
Kenyan companies Synatech Africa, Nutritech Solutions, mSwahili, and Hisa Inc. are among those chosen.

Melissa Nsiah, Director of Portfolio at MEST Africa, commented on the selection procedure and modifications to the regional competitions.
We haven’t yet reached the finals, and MAC has been an unbelievable pleasure! The entire process of choosing our top 36 businesses to go to regional finals, from planning to releasing the real competition and sorting through hundreds of applications, has been an exhilarating learning curve. Since the competition was entirely virtual last year, I am pleased by the planning team’s innovative strategy for fusing the online and in-person pitch formats to increase our audience and provide the greatest possible experience for both partners and competitors.
The challenge winner will get USD 50,000 in equity investment as a prize.
The MEST Community, which includes knowledgeable business coaches and mentors, international investors, and many more, will be exclusively accessible to finalists.
