Main One Cable Company Connects Cameroon to High Speed Internet
From Cyberschuulnews we learnt that the Republic of Cameroun has entered into agreement with Main One Cable Company -to provide a landing point at Douala on the Main One’s 1.9Tbps submarine cable which already has landing points in Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal the Canary Islands, Morocco and London. Before now Cameroun was connected on the SAT3 Fiber via a50km fiber loop in Douala.
Main One is a communications services company providing open access wholesale international connectivity and broadband capacity to countries in West Africa. Main One:
• Built and owns the first privately owned submarine cable over a distance of 7,000 kilometres along the West African coastline, with initial landing stations in Nigeria, Ghana and Portugal,
• Provides open access, wholesale, international broadband capacity to countries along the western coast of Africa.
• Developed a state-of-the-art IP-NGN platform to foster internet adoption and to provide communication services to Internet Service Providers, Enterprises and government institutions in the region.
