ITR Fellowship 4.0 Opens Applications for Young Africans Seeking Leadership Development and Internship Placements
The ITR Fellowship has launched its fourth cohort, inviting applications from young Africans aged 18 to 30 who are looking to build leadership skills, engage in community development, and gain structured professional experience through a fully virtual, no-cost programme.
Running over eight weeks entirely online, the fellowship is designed to reach participants across the continent regardless of their location — a deliberate design choice that broadens access in environments where in-person training remains limited or cost-prohibitive for young people.
What the Programme Offers
The fellowship blends structured training with practical application. Participants will move through leadership and personal development workshops, work on community impact projects of their own design, and benefit from peer engagement with a network of fellows drawn from across African countries.
A notable addition to this fourth cohort is the inclusion of an internship placement for fellows who meet the programme’s performance criteria. Participants who complete the fellowship and maintain at least 85% attendance throughout will be eligible for placement with organisations where they can build professional portfolios and gain hands-on work experience. Post-fellowship mentorship from experienced professionals will also be available to qualifying graduates.
The programme is fully funded, meaning accepted fellows bear no personal cost for participation.
Who Can Apply
Eligibility is open to nationals of any African country between the ages of 18 and 30. Applicants are not required to have a background in community development — the programme is designed for those at early stages of their personal and professional journeys. What is expected is a clear willingness to contribute to social change and consistent availability for the full eight-week duration.
The organisers have noted that young people from underrepresented communities and modest backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants are also advised that AI-generated responses in the application form may result in disqualification.
A Growing Track Record
Past cohorts of the ITR Fellowship have produced participants who went on to launch community initiatives, develop greater confidence in leadership roles, and build professional networks that led to concrete career opportunities. While independent verification of aggregate outcomes is not publicly available, the programme has drawn steady attention across Nigerian and pan-African youth development platforms ahead of each application cycle.
The April 30, 2026 deadline leaves a narrow window for interested candidates, and those considering applying are advised to submit early given reported competition for places.
Interested candidates can access the official application form directly.
