ICT4D: IT ORACLE AS CYBER SANTA WITH BAKE FOR CHANGE INITIATIVE.
What has ICT got to do with this? And what has Christmas got to dowith ICT4D or even ICT4Change? Perhaps everything! A quick search at Google reveals that indeed, the Internet and Cyberspace is now a deep rooted culture especially among the youths of the world and that Cyber Santa has contributed to the propagation of Information andCommunications Technologies – with particular reference to the Internet world or Cyberspace. No wonder therefore that Chris Uwaje (IT ORACLE) has invoked thepowers of the Oracle world to ensure that “Bake for Change” actualizes her vision and dreams to put smiles and transmit “Can do’ Cyberlife Knowledge to the underserved, less privileged and down trodden in Nigeria.
Bake for Change is a baking club put together by four young technology connected minds who are out there to prove that Nigerians care and are poised for change despite the challenges faced by many less privileged. And above all, that Technology can be a core agent for change in the Nigeria equation – if well coordinated.

Having recognized that there are millions of kids out there grasping for breath in want and gaping for help, Bake for Change in December 2010, rolled up their sleeves and went to town – armed with their Mobile Phones, Internet devices to raise funds during their December Donation Marathon. They proved amongst other things that there are many people out there who are ready to give and share what they have with the less privileged provided there are people / volunteers like Bake for Change who are ready to serve.
They visited four Lagos State run facilities, as listed below
-Lagos State Special Correctional Centre for Boys, Oregun, Lagos
-Lagos State Old Peoples’ Home, Yaba, Lagos
-Lagos State Children’s Transit Home, Idi-Araba, Lagos
-Lagos State Special Correctional Centre for Girls, Idi-Araba, Lagos
All in all the project was a huge success and as expected, the Oracle inspired many children at the homes with Information Technology Knowledge rhythms. This he calls e-positive manipulation in Cyberspace. The kids at the end of the day received a lot of gift items made possible by different individuals that donated generously towards the initiative.
And as 2011 unfolds, the Bake for Change Initiative is planning more ways to implement various ideas, including the use of ICT tools to affect more lives positively in Nigeria and beyond.
Well done guys!
