Huawei Launches its $6 Million Cloud Spark Programme to Support South African SMEs in the Next 3 Years
Over the next three years, Huawei South Africa promises that its $5.8 million Cloud Spark programme will empower more than 1,000 small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).
A hybrid accelerator program for tech companies and SMEs is called Cloud Spark. For the implementation of the program, the company intends to collaborate with Silicon Cape, a non-profit and community-driven project that promotes and catalyzes the development of a sustainable tech and entrepreneurial environment in South Africa.
The news was made at the Huawei Eco-Connect conference last week at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg by Jay Zhou, managing director of Huawei Cloud South Africa.
The project will enable entrepreneurs as they expand their businesses through the use of the cloud, Stone He, the president of the Huawei Cloud Business in Southern Africa, claims. This will help to expedite their goals for digitalization.
The Cloud Spark initiative is a component of Huawei Cloud’s everything-as-a-service strategy, which the business is implementing both locally and internationally. The program was announced together with the creation of a data center availability zone (AZ), which will be operational 3 years early.
According to Zhou, the everything-as-a-service strategy combines established cloud services like infrastructure, technology, and expertise-as-a-service, all of which are essential for facing the future head-on.
