Samuel Afolabi, Innovator & Founder: I grew up in Lagos in a large family and spent most of my childhood online, endlessly curious about the universe—its origin, the laws that shape our minds and behaviour, and the stories behind every great discovery. Google and later AI became my companions; I devoured research not just to know answers but to study the people who produced them. Their breakthroughs inspired me, but they also made me uneasy: what if the paths they took were incomplete? I was a dreamer for years—tinkering, building small gadgets—until university changed everything. At Babcock, I met dozens of brilliant dreamers with ideas that never left their heads. As a freelancer in my early years, I ran into the same obstacle again and again: software is powerful, but every tool lives in a silo. I found myself hopping between apps to finish a single task, losing context and momentum with every switch. That friction convinced me there must be a better future—one where a single intelligent environment could hold an entire creative life. THE NANOVERSE is the first step toward that future: an OS-like ecosystem that removes handoffs, amplifies creativity, and lets imagination become product with speed and dignity.
Which Challenge Are You Solving, and for Whom?
We’re tackling software’s biggest structural flaw: fragmentation. Today, creators—designers, filmmakers, indie game developers, educators, freelancers, and small teams—must stitch together dozens of point tools to ship a single product. That overhead steals time, focus, and value. THE NANOVERSE unifies the capabilities of the best creative tools into a single intelligent platform so anyone who uses a computer to create can work faster and turn ideas into products without friction.
How Does Your Innovation Work?
THE NANOVERSE is powered by multimodal generative models and orchestrated by our Light Cognitive Architecture (LCA), a layered agentic system that simulates cognitive processes of the human brain. Each tool in THE NANOVERSE has its own specialized agentic system, and all tools are connected. Users can research an idea, and the system comprehensively explores its origins, connections, and implementations while parallel agents generate real-world application plans. What Has Been Your Biggest Challenge?
The naira–dollar rate makes development and infrastructure costs far heavier here, and fundraising is tougher than it should be. Many local investors chase short-term trends rather than backing deep, hard problems. These currency pressures and funding gaps slow hiring, limit access to production-grade cloud and compute, and make scaling a capital-intensive battle. Despite these headwinds, the clarity of our mission keeps us moving.
How Is Your Innovation Making a Tangible Difference?
In private beta, we’ve heard the same electrifying message from users: they feel “on top of the world.” Creators tell us they can accomplish in hours what used to take days of jumping between tools—fewer lost ideas, faster prototyping, and clearer paths to monetization. That emotional lift translates into more work shipped, more projects completed, and more communities empowered to tell their stories at scale.
What Are Your Next Goals?
We’re focused on shipping: public beta for THE NANOVERSE on December 1st, followed by the private beta of our visual learning product, The Vortex, next year. Between now and then, we’ll sharpen our MVP, expand our beta cohort, and convert early users into paying customers while recruiting the senior engineers we need to scale.
