File-Sharing Service, WeTransfer is Set to Enter the NFT Industry
Digital file-sharing service WeTransfer is partnering with blockchain platform Minima to launch non-fungible tokens (NFT) on the network, allowing users to generate NFTs directly from their phones.
A layer 1 blockchain and peer-to-peer network designed specifically for mobile use is called Minima. Its website states that individuals will be able to “operate a full constructing and validating node” using its ultra-lean protocol, resulting in what they believe would be a completely decentralized network.
The blockchain enables direct transfers between users without the requirement of a middleman by using the Minima token as its native currency. The platform is now in testnet mode and intends to go live in 180 nations in March.
The collaboration with WeTransfer will enable blockchain users to “share their digital assets and efficiently collect revenue,” according to a press release from the company.
“This collaboration will investigate the practical application of NFT technology, which is of interest not only to the crypto industry, but will also serve as a test case to demonstrate the potential for wider adoption of this innovative digital tool,” said Minima CEO Hugo Feiler.
Several Web 2 file-sharing services have expanded their offerings by delving deeper into blockchain technology. In October, Google launched a cloud-based blockchain node service for Ethereum, while Amazon’s cloud service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), is hiring to build out its Web 3 products.
