Digital Health Global Launches Tech-Driven Revolution in Health Worker Training in Nigeria
Digital Health Global with local and international stakeholders including the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Board , WHO, UNICEF, and technology partners such as Digital Campus and mPowering Frontline Health Workers, The programme addresses critical topics in digital health systems, electronic medical record management, patient data interoperability, and the use of digital tools to improve healthcare delivery for nurses, midwives, and community health workers in Ondo State, Nigeria.

The 12-week pilot programme supports 500 health workers across 25 health centres, providing high-quality film-based digital training in English and Yoruba. The programme addresses critical topics in digital health implementation, health data interoperability, patient record management, and the use of digital tools to improve frontline healthcare delivery, equipping health workers with practical skills to leverage technology effectively in their work.
The programme is designed for scale all 948 health facilities in Ondo State could benefit, training 10,400 health workers who provide essential services to 3.4 million patients.
Speaking at the programme launch, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, Honorable Commissioner for Health, Ondo State, said
“Digital Health Global’s platform addresses a long-standing challenge in health worker training and digital skills development. This solution will save costs, extend training coverage, and ensure frontline staff are better equipped to integrate technology into healthcare delivery.”
Interest in the programme is growing rapidly. Over 150 additional State Primary Health Management Boards in Nigeria have expressed interest, highlighting the potential for nationwide adoption. Digital Health Global aims to translate the programme into multiple Nigerian languages, ensuring that millions of health workers across the country can access standardised, high-quality training in digital health systems and tools.
