Africa Data Centres Opens Office in Accra, Ghana
Africa Data Centres, a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies Group, a pan-African technology conglomerate, is constructing a 30-megawatt data center in Accra, Ghana. With facilities in Nigeria, Togo, and now Ghana, the new facility will pave the way for the company’s hyper-scale partners to expand digital services and solutions to more nations in West Africa, making Africa Data Centres the largest provider in the region.
The Accra operation, according to Tesh Durvasula, Africa Data Centres’ Chief Executive Officer, is a key milestone for the company and illustrates the huge growth opportunities the company has for its business in the region and on the continent. “We are witnessing an unprecedented demand for digital services, apps, broadband, cloud technologies, and more, all of which are seeing data demand soar to unimagined levels,” said Durvasula.

The data center will not only bring digital services to the area, but it will also create numerous job possibilities through the digitization of the economy and the hiring of local contractors and workers for the construction, from entry-level to high-tech.
Continuous connectivity is essential for Ghanaian enterprises and residents to benefit from the digital disruptions that are sweeping West Africa. However, due to a lack of required infrastructure, the country’s progress has been slower than the rest of the world.
Opening a data center is in line with our expansion ambitions and comes at a good time, as Ghana’s government has been implementing creative and forward-thinking digital projects in recent years. Even though there has been substantial progress in recent years, many Ghanaians still lack access to digital services.
We are always trying to provide the infrastructure to lessen the digital divide as the continent’s largest network of interconnected, carrier- and cloud-neutral data center facilities. We want to play a big role in providing to Ghana the necessary digital and infrastructural services required to facilitate the mass adoption of digital services in the country and throughout the continent as a Cassava Technologies enterprise.
“Africa is home to many interesting inventions, and multiple entrepreneurs are funding billions to debut revolutionary concepts across a wide range of industries. Ghana is also an appealing investment destination for multinational tech firms looking to grow their footprint in the area, as it is West Africa’s second-largest economy.” Durvasula stated.
The Africa Data Centres team aims to build many interconnected, cloud- and carrier-neutral data centers across the length and breadth of the continent in an unrivaled $500m investment in Africa’s digital transformation.
