Nigeria AfCFTA Hackathon 2025: Call for Applications (Up to N20 Million Grand Prize)
A three-day innovation competition aimed at using technology to change the digital trading environment in Africa. Forward-thinking people and groups from all over the continent are invited to this exciting event to collaborate and develop significant ideas that will influence cross-border trade in Africa in the future.
The goal of the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol Hackathon is to encourage innovation and teamwork in tackling important issues in the digital trade ecosystem of Africa. The hackathon aims to address urgent problems including digital payments, logistics, e-commerce facilitation, and digital identity management throughout the continent by uniting developers, entrepreneurs, and innovators. The solutions developed at this event will contribute to the development of an African digital economy that is more accessible, effective, and inclusive.
Key Challenges
Participants of the AfCFTA Digital Trade Hackathon will address seven strategic challenges aimed at driving innovation in Africa’s digital trade and cross-border commerce:
- E-Commerce Policy & Trust: Simplify digital trade rules to boost trust and cross-border e-commerce in Africa.
- Connectivity Access: Improve internet access in remote areas to include more people in the digital economy.
- Digital Payments: Create secure, fast, and inclusive payment systems, especially for the unbanked.
- Logistics & Delivery: Solve infrastructure gaps to improve cross-border e-commerce delivery and logistics.
- Youth & MSME Inclusion: Empower youth and small businesses through digital skills and onboarding support. Business loans Business management tools
- E-Commerce Adoption: Increase consumer and business trust in online shopping with better platforms and support.
- Global Expansion: Help African businesses grow internationally through export tools and digital branding.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to: African developers, startups, students, MSMEs, and entrepreneurs
- Must be of African origin
- Aged between 18 and 45 years
- Can apply individually or as a team
- Teams can have a maximum of 5 members
