According to fresh statistics that Google unveiled yesterday, Nigerians are increasingly using artificial intelligence, or AI, to advance their jobs and foster their creativity.
According to Google Search trends, there has been a 130% increase in searches linked to artificial intelligence (AI) in Nigeria as compared to the same period previous year. This indicates that people are becoming more and more curious about this innovative technology.
“AI has the potential to create opportunities, from the extraordinary to the everyday for everyone, bringing new waves of innovation, social and economic progress,” stated Olumide Balogun, Director of Google’s West Africa division, in response to the trends.
It should come as no surprise that Nigerians are already attempting to take full advantage of this revolutionary technology, figuring out how to use it to advance their social standing, careers, and creativity.
More people are searching for AI globally than ever before, and Nigeria is not an exception.
In Nigeria, searches for “what is AI” have increased by more than 30%, while searches for “how to use AI” have increased by 40%. This suggests that Nigerians are keen to learn about and utilize AI for their own and their careers’ advancement.In terms of search interest in AI, Nigeria is now ranked 25th worldwide and sixth in Africa.
“The data also revealed a notable increase in searches for AI applications in the creative and professional domains.”The terms “create a logo with AI,” “create a CV with AI,” “design a website with AI,” and “create slides with AI” are popular in Nigeria and have shown a remarkable rise in interest of more than 5,000% since last year.
This pattern emphasizes how AI tools are being used more and more to improve work-related tasks and expedite creative processes.
Nigerians are curious to learn more about AI as a technology as well as how to use it in their daily lives.
“An interest in learning AI skills is evident in the 50% increase in searches for AI and courses, as well as in common questions like is AI hard to learn, how to learn AI, and how to access and learn about AI.”
