Ibadan Witnesses Graduation of First 3MTT Cohort, Setting Stage for Nigeria’s Tech Future
In a groundbreaking event, the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, spearheaded by HSProjects Technologies, celebrated the graduation of its first cohort in Ibadan, Nigeria, on March 30th, 2024. which marks a significant achievement in the country’s journey toward digital transformation and skill development.
The 3MTT initiative, launched in November, reached a grand finale with an elaborate graduation ceremony honoring the fellows who completed their program. The program imparted cutting-edge tech skills such as Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis & visualization, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, AI / Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, and Dev Ops, witnessed the successful graduation of 377 fellows from an initial enrolment of 784.
Madam Cecilia, in her opening address, extended her heartfelt thanks to the Federal Government for their crucial support, highlighting the donation of 20 laptops that facilitated the learning experience of the students. She also acknowledged the influential tech industry voices who attended the ceremony such as Honourable Minister Dr Bosun Tijani, the visionary of the 3MTT under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Also, mentors played a crucial role in guiding the students during the training.
Prominent among the Mentors were Uloma Cynthia Okenyi and Samuel Aramide, who gave speeches during the ceremony on the topics, “continuous learning and internship” and “How to build your CV, Social media handles and WhatsApp status in a way that will attract clients”, respectively. Speakers, including Prof. Vincent, advised the graduates on shaping successful careers in Tech, emphasizing entrepreneurship and personal branding. But one striking thing in Prof. Vincent’s speech was her advice to the graduates to “take their Tech careers as a business, and even give the business a name. This will serve as motivation to them to never relent at it”.
The 3MTT program aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of creating 2 million digital jobs by 2025. This initiative, led by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, aims to establish a strong pipeline of technical talent essential for Nigeria’s digital economy.
As we celebrate the achievements of the graduates, we wish to highly commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making provision for this vision to flourish. Achieving this goal would not just be life-changing for the individuals but would also be a breakthrough for Nigeria’s Digital Economy.
